  • One-dimensional parallel arrays of Josephson junctions are very interesting with respect to the rich dynamics inherent in this system. The arrays consist of several Josephson junctions arranged in parallel and connected by superconducting wires forming loops.
Preliminary measurements with very small capacitance Josephson junction arrays showed a very unusual dependence in the I-V characteristics with distinct current steps.

The master thesis aims to experimentally investigate the system and compare them with theoretical calculations.
The work also includes the design, fabrication and measurement of the nanostructured samples at milli-Kelvin temperatures.
